ONLY YOU CAN SAVE THE SAILOR
An innocent sailor washes ashore, and he is pursued on all sides by cops, corporations, aliens, cartoon characters, clowns and Satan. Overcome with the modern world, he recedes into the past: history, childhood, fantasy, other planes of being maybe. The sailor is you, the sailor is me, the sailor is all of us besieged by the world’s chaos. And the sailor perseveres!
Directed by Adelaide film collective Moviejuice’s Gabriel Bath, The Next Time You Feel Important is perhaps the first slapstick essay film. It’s a movie radiant in the joy of exploration and experimentation. It’s a free-wheelin' Pynchonesque poem through the mind of a romantic guy trying to process everything fucked up and beautiful all at once. It’s highly likely to inspire art-making after watching. Just see it, c'mon, and catch Moviejuice's other sesh at BUFF.
Screens with a Live Q&A with Gabriel Bath.
